Avyan Privacy Policy

Avyan ("we", "us", "the app") is a short-video social application for creators. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using Avyan you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

• Account information: your phone number and/or email address, used to create and secure your account and to sign you in.
• Profile information: your username, display name, bio, and profile photo that you choose to provide.
• Content you create: videos, thumbnails, captions, comments, likes, follows, saves, reposts, and shares.
• Device & usage data: basic technical information needed to operate the service (for example, app version and request logs).

Optional guest-session measurement

Guest-session analytics is off by default and can be enabled or disabled in mobile Settings. If enabled, we count an app session even without video viewing and record whether a new account is created within that session's 24-hour attribution window. Existing-account sign-ins do not count.

A random identifier exists only in app memory. This measurement does not use a device or advertising identifier, IP-based identity, or fingerprint. The server stores a keyed digest, not the original identifier or your account ID. Identifiers expire within 48 hours and are removed by scheduled cleanup; identifier-free daily totals are retained for 90 days. Consent applies only to the current app run; every restart defaults to off.

Turning this off stops future collection and requests removal of the current session's unaggregated contribution when connected. Already anonymous totals cannot be linked back to you. Restarts and reinstalls can create different sessions, and people sharing an app can share a session. Counts describe opted-in sessions, not unique people or devices. Earlier activity is not reconstructed.

2. How we use your information

• To create and operate your account and authenticate you securely.
• To store and display the videos and profile content you publish.
• To power core features such as the feed, search, comments, likes, follows, and notifications.
• To keep the community safe (handling reports, blocks, and policy enforcement).
• To send one-time verification codes by SMS when you sign in with a phone number.

3. How your information is stored and shared

• Account and content records are stored in our secure database (hosted on Supabase).
• Uploaded media (videos, thumbnails, profile photos) is stored and delivered via Cloudinary.
• One-time SMS codes are sent through SparrowSMS for phone verification.
• We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with these service providers as needed to run the app, or when required by law.

4. User-generated content & moderation

Avyan lets users post public content. We provide tools to report objectionable content and to block other users. We may remove content or accounts that violate our policies. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior.

5. Camera, face data & AR filters

Avyan's in-app camera lets you record videos and photos, and may offer optional augmented-reality (AR) effects such as beauty filters and lenses, powered by Snap's Camera Kit technology.

• Camera access: the camera is used only when you open the record screen, and only with your permission.
• Face data: when you use an AR lens, face-detection processing happens on your device in real time to render the effect. Avyan does not collect, store, or share face geometry, facial recognition data, or biometric identifiers, and face data is not used to identify you.
• What is saved: only the final video or photo you choose to record is saved, like any other content you create. If you do not post it, it stays on your device.
• Snap: use of AR lenses is subject to Snap Inc.'s Privacy Policy. Snap may receive limited technical data (such as lens usage counts) needed to operate the lens service; it does not receive your videos or account information from us.

6. Your choices & rights

• Access & update: you can edit your profile information at any time in the app.
• Account deletion: you can delete your account from within the app. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile and associated content from our systems.

7. Children's privacy

Avyan is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data and content, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
